How to Create a Variant Product Bundle

To create a product bundle with variants in your ikas dashboard, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the ikas Dashboard:

    Sign in to your ikas dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Products:

    In the left menu, click on the Products tab and select Products.

  3. Add Product:

    Click on the Add Product button at the top right. A window will appear where you can choose between the following options:

    • Simple Product: A single product without variants. For more information, see here.
    • Variant Product: A product offered in different variants (e.g., colors, sizes). For more information, see here.
    • Bundle Product: A set consisting of multiple products.
  4. Select Bundle Product:

    Choose Bundle Product.

    Note: Bundle products are currently only available in the Ozy, Koru, Troy, and Toros themes.

The product bundle detail page will open. Fill in the following fields:

Package Product Type:

You have two types to choose from, with the second one being relevant for this article:

  • Basic Package Product: A fixed set without variants. More information on this can be found here.
  • Variant Package Product: Different variants of the set are offered.

General Information:

  • Bundle Name: Give the product bundle a descriptive name that will be visible to your customers.
  • Display Unit Prices: If your bundle requires a base price, you can enable the checkbox. Fields will appear for entering the unit of measure and the sold units. If the required unit of measure is not available, you can add it under Products > Definitions > Product Units. The unit price will be automatically calculated based on these details.

Product Details:

  • Brand: Assign a brand to the bundle (or create your own).
  • Tags: Tags help group products, e.g., for campaigns or to customize taxation. For more information, see here.
  • Google Product Categories: Choose the appropriate category for your bundle from the existing list.
  • Vendors: Enter the supplier of the bundle, if available. This information is not visible to the end customer.

Category:

First, create your categories under Products > Definitions > Categories. For more information, see here. Then, assign the bundle to the relevant category or categories.

Description:

The product description will appear on the product page. You can add text here and also include elements like images, links, videos, tables, etc.. Use as many keywords as you can to describe your product. You can also add source code using the <> icon. Please note that the description is limited to 32,000 characters.

Variants:

With a product bundle that has variants, you can offer different combinations and options, allowing your customers to customize the bundle according to their preferences.

Add Variant:

Click on Add Variant to begin creating the variants.

  • A new window will appear on the right side where you can name the variant type. For example:

    • Colors (for Yellow, Blue, Red)
    • Sizes (for S, M, L)
    • Diameter (for 10 cm, 20 cm)
  • Choose Style: Choose how the variants should be displayed:

    • List: The variants will appear as a simple list. For example:
      • Sizes: S, M, L
      • Colors: Yellow, Blue, Red
    • Color / Image: The variants will be displayed with colors or images. Example: The colors Yellow, Blue, and Red could appear as color blocks or images.
  • Enter Variants: Now enter the individual variants (e.g., S, M, L or Yellow, Blue) and press Enter for each. They will then appear at the bottom of the list.

  • If Color / Image Option is selected: A gray field will appear next to each variant. Here you can:

    • Manually select a color,
    • Enter the HEX value of the color,
    • Or upload an image.
  • Sort Variants:

    • You can sort the variants via drag-and-drop.
    • Use the icons on the right to edit or delete variants.
  • Additional Option: Display Variants Separately on Category Pages

    If you want the variants to be displayed separately on brand and category pages, enable the checkbox “Show variant values for this product separately on brand and category pages.

  • Don't forget to save.

Add Multiple Variant Types:

  • You can add up to 3 variant types. This will display all combinations (e.g., Red, L, 10 cm).
  • These variant types can also be sorted and edited via drag-and-drop.

Now, individual edits can be made for each variant. The basic settings of the bundle variants can be adjusted directly here.

Edit Variants:

  • Edit Variants:

  • Media: Upload images and videos in the formats .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .webp, or .mp4 by clicking the + symbol. The maximum file size for images is 10 MB, and for videos, it’s 25 MB.

  • Sale Price: Enter the price at which you want to sell the variant.

  • Discount Price: If you want to offer a discount on the variant, enter the discounted price here. It must be lower than the sales price. The original sales price will appear crossed out, with the discounted price displayed next to it.

  • Purchase Price: This price is not visible to the end customer and serves as an internal value.

  • Sold Units: If the unit price has been activated in the general settings above, the unit sold must also be specified here. The unit price will be automatically calculated based on these information.

  • 🎛️ Controller Icon:

    The controller icon allows you to view the columns for weight and HS-codes for each variant and hide other fields as needed.

    • Weight: Enter the weight of the variant in either grams (g) or kilograms (kg). It is recommended to use a consistent unit of measure throughout the system.
    • HS Code: An international number used to classify goods in international trade.

For more advanced edits of the individual bundle variants, you can access the specific variant detail pages. To go to a variant in detail, click on the + Add Product button or the edit icon next to the corresponding variant.

The bundle variant detail page opens with the following editing options:

Product Bundle Variant:

  • Sales Settings: You can also exclude the variant from sales or make it available for sale.

Products in Variant:

Add Products:

Click the Add Product button and choose one of the two listed options:

  • Add as Product: The product variants will be presented for the customer to choose from.
  • Add as Assortment: The product variants will be added to the bundle as separate products.

Sort Products: After adding all products to the bundle, you can adjust the order of the products as you like.

Edit Products:

  • Quantity: Set how many units of each product should be included in the set.

  • Three-Dot Icon "…":

    By clicking the three-dot icon ..., you can make the following adjustments:

    • Customize Settings: You can add a discount or set the minimum and maximum purchase quantity for the product in the bundle.
    • Edit Variants: You can edit the variant selection for the bundle.
    • Delete: You can remove the product from the bundle.

Cost:

For Pricing the bundle, you have two options:

  • Set Your Own Bundle Price: You can manually set both the selling price and the discounted price of the set.
  • Add Product Prices to the Bundle Price: The total price of the set will be automatically calculated based on the individual prices of the products.
    • Using the option + Add Discount to Products, you can reduce the price by a percentage.

    • With the checkbox Add Extra Price, you can make an additional price adjustment.

      The Sale Price is for absolute price increases, and the Discount Price is for absolute price reductions.

Additional Pricing Options:

  • Add Price List: You can create new price lists under Products > Price Lists. For more information, see here. You can then associate these price lists with the product by clicking + Add Price List. For each price list, you can set both the sale price and the discounted price.
  • Display Unit Prices: If your bundle requires a base price, you can enable the checkbox. Fields will appear for entering the unit of measure and the sold units. If the required unit of measure is not available, you can add it under Products > Definitions > Units. The unit price will be automatically calculated based on these details.

Media:

Upload images and videos in .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .webp, or .mp4 format. The maximum file size for images is 10 MB, and for videos, it’s 25 MB.

Inventory:

  • SKU: A unique identifier for the product in the system.
  • Barcode: A machine-readable code that identifies the product externally. This can be a custom code that you obtain externally.

Shipping:

  • Weight: Enter the weight of the product in either grams (g) or kilograms (kg). It is recommended to use a consistent unit of measure throughout the system.
  • HS Code: An international number used to classify goods in international trade.

Stock and Location:

The stock of the products included in the bundle determines the total number of bundles that can be sold. Once the stock of any product within the bundle is depleted, the entire bundle will no longer be available.

Custom Fields:

In addition to the standard product description, you can also add special fields such as tables, images, or text for size charts, seasonal information, and other relevant details. These attributes should first be created in an organized manner under the Products > Definitions > Attributes tab. You can find more information here.

Afterward, you can add these attributes to the variant and adjust the content as needed.


Once you have created and edited your bundle variants, proceed with the general edits of the bundle.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO):

This section is filled in automatically:

  • The slug and page title are generated based on the bundle name.
  • The meta description is generated based on the bundle description.

You can manually adjust any of these by editing the fields. A preview is shown on the right.

  • Prevent Crawling: If you want to block search engines from crawling this page, check this box. Crawling is the process where search engines use automated bots to scan web content for indexing and ranking.
  • Canonical URL: Use this to specify the preferred version of a page when multiple URLs have similar content.

Custom Fields:

In addition to the standard product description, you can also add special fields such as tables, images, or text for size charts, seasonal information, and other relevant details. These attributes should first be created in an organized manner under the Products > Definitions > Attributes tab. You can find more information here.

Afterward, you can add these attributes to the set and adjust the content as needed. A product can have a maximum of 16 custom attributes added.

Product Personalization:

Customers can be given the option to customize their products according to their preferences. In many cases, product personalization may come with an additional cost, which will be clearly displayed.

Product personalization can be created under Products > Definitions > Personalizations. For more information, see here. You can then add these to the product.

Sales Channels:

In the Sales Channels section at the top right, you can specify:

  • Which sales channels the product is available on.
  • Whether the product should be displayed on search pages and category pages or hidden from them.
  • Whether minimum or maximum order quantities should apply to the product per cart.

Speichern:

Don’t forget to save your changes. You can either select Save or Save Without Publishing if you want to publish the changes later.
