How Does the Refund to Store Credit Work

Refunds can now also be credited directly to the customer’s store account as store credit. This credit can be flexibly applied to the next purchase, ensuring a smooth shopping experience.

How do I activate the feature?

  1. Activate in settings:

    Go to Sales Channels > Customer Settings and enable the option “Refund to Store Credit.”

  2. Process a refund:

    Open the refund screen and select the “Refund to Store Credit” button.

    You can then complete the refund as usual.



  3. How customers can use it:

    Once the refund is processed, the amount will be credited to the customer’s account.

    Customers can use their credit during their next purchase by selecting “Use my store credit” at the final step of checkout.

 

Important Notes

  • Orders without a customer account

    Refunds can also be issued to store credit for guest checkouts.

    However, for customers to redeem the credit, they must register before their next purchase.
  • Supported refund types

    The feature supports both product-based refunds and amount-based refunds.

  • Visibility of store credit

    • Customers can currently view their credit via the respective order under “My Account.”
    • An improved and more visible display will be introduced in the future.
    • Merchants can view customer credits at any time in the Admin Panel under the respective customer profile.





    ⚠️ Important technical notes

    • To make the feature visible in the storefront, a theme update may be required.
    • If no update is available, adding and then removing a new page can also trigger the update.
