Want Google to index your e-commerce website faster? Here’s how to submit your sitemap in Google Search Console.
A sitemap is an XML file that provides a structured map of your website and its products. It helps Google efficiently crawl your pages and display them in search results.
Whether you’ve just launched your e-commerce store or migrated from another platform — Google needs to index your new site for it to appear in search results.
By adding your domain and sitemap to Google Search Console, you enable Google to index your site faster and more accurately. Before you can add your sitemap, you need to verify your domain.
A) Verifying Your Domain in Google Search Console

Log in to Google Search Console:
Go to the Google Search Console and sign in.

Enter Your Domain:
In the property type selection window, choose "Domain", enter your domain name, and click "Continue".

Copy the TXT Record:
A window will appear asking you to verify domain ownership via a DNS record. Copy the TXT record from step 3.

Add the TXT Record to Your DNS Settings:
Go to your domain provider’s dashboard and add a new TXT record in your DNS settings.
Note: The exact process may vary depending on your domain provider. If necessary, contact your provider’s support team for assistance.

Complete Domain Verification in GSC:
Return to Google Search Console and click "Verify".
Note: Depending on your provider, it may take a few minutes to several hours for the DNS changes to take effect. If the verification doesn’t work right away, try again later.
B) Submitting Your Sitemap in Google Search Console
Important: Make sure the meta information for your category, brand, and theme pages in ikas has been correctly edited as described [here] before proceeding! These details affect how Google rates your pages.

Access Sitemaps in GSC:
Log in to Google Search Console and navigate to Index > Sitemaps in the left menu.

Enter and Submit Your Sitemap URL:
Ensure your e-commerce website is live. Then, enter your sitemap URL in the format “**https://domain.com/sitemap.xml**” and click "Submit".
Note: If this is your first time submitting the sitemap, its status may initially appear as “Failed”. Refresh the page after a few minutes to check the status again. Once the sitemap is successfully added, the status will update to “Success”.
