How to Create Customer Segments

With ikas Segment, you can create dynamic customer groups based on specific properties and behaviors of your customers. The segmentation is done automatically and is continuously updated – based on real-time data. This allows you to create targeted marketing campaigns and enhance your customer communication.

Examples of useful segments include:

  • Customers who have added products to their favorites but have not completed a purchase
  • Customers who have not opened a marketing email in the last 90 days
  • Loyal customers with a specific order value

 

To create customer segments within the ikas Marketing module, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the ikas Dashboard:

    Sign in to your ikas Dashboard.

  2. Access Customer Segments:

    Click on Marketing > Customer Segments in the left menu.

  3. Add Customer Segment:

    Click on the Add Customer Segment button to create a new segment.

  4. Choose a Template or Create a Segment Manually:

    Use a predefined segmentation template or click + New Segment to create your own segmentation from scratch.

  5. Name the Segment:

    Give the segment a meaningful internal name. This name will not be visible to customers.

  6. Define Conditions:

    • Specify which properties or events your target audience should meet.

      Examples of properties:

      • Account Status equals Has Account.
      • Total Order Value is greater than or equal to €1,000 €.

      Examples of events:

      • Product Added to Wishlist is greater than or equal to 1
      • Refunded Orders is greater than 1 in the last year
    • Use the + Add Property or + Add Event buttons to define as many criteria as needed. Decide if all or at least one of the conditions needs to be met.

  7. Save:

    Click Save in the top right corner to create the segment.

Example Use Case:

Goal: Identify customers who have favored products but have not made a purchase

  1. Add Customer Segment:

    Click the Add Customer Segment button.

  2. Choose a Template or Create a Segment:

    Click + New Segment to define your own audience.

  3. Name the Segment:

    Name the segment "Customers who have added a product to their favorites but have not completed a purchase."

  4. Define Conditions:

    • Subscription Status equals Permits → Only customers with active marketing consent
    • Product Added to Wishlist is greater than or equal to 1
    • Order Created equals 0 in the last month
  5. Save:

    Click Save in the top right to secure the segment.
