How to Create Automatic Discounts

Automatic discounts are an effective way to offer your customers attractive deals. These discounts are automatically applied at checkout once the set conditions are met.

To create automatic discounts that are automatically applied at checkout, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the ikas Dashboard:

    Sign in to your ikas Dashboard.

  2. Access Campaigns:

    Click on Discounts > Campaigns in the left menu.

  3. Add Campaign:

    Click the Add Campaign button.

  4. Select Campaign Type:

    You have two types to choose from, with the first one being relevant for this article:

    • Automatic Discount: The discount is automatically applied at checkout once the set conditions are met (e.g., minimum order value, product selection). Customers do not need to do anything to receive the discount.
    • Discount Code: Customers need to enter a special discount code at checkout to receive the discount. This code can either be manually assigned or provided in promotions. You can find more information about this here.
  5. Create Campaign:

    A detailed page will open where you can fill out all the relevant fields.

    • In the Title field, give the discount campaign a descriptive name that will be visible to your customers.
  6. Choose Discount Type:

    Select the appropriate Discount Type for your campaign. The following options are available:

    • Percentage Discount: A specific percentage is deducted from the total order value.
      • Tiered Discount: The percentage varies based on the cart value or order quantity. You can set different discount tiers with individual percentages.
    • Fixed Amount: A fixed discount amount is deducted from the order value.
      • Tiered Discount: The discount amount varies depending on the cart value or quantity. Define different discount tiers with corresponding amounts.
    • Free Shipping: Shipping costs are waived when certain conditions are met.
    • Buy X, Get Y: Customers receive a product for free or at a discount when they buy a certain number of items. For more information, refer to this guide.
  7. Set Conditions:

    Define which products or categories the discount applies to:

    • All Products: The discount applies to the entire range of products.
    • Specific Products: The discount is limited to selected products, categories, brands, or items with specific tags.
    • Use + Add Condition to define additional rules and determine whether all or any of the conditions need to be met.
    • If desired, you can enable the option to Include discounted products in the campaign.
  8. Set Requirements:

    Determine the conditions under which the discount will be applied:

    • Limit Purchase Amount: The discount only applies after a certain cart value is reached.
    • Limit Product Quantity: The discount is granted only when a specified number of products is purchased.
  9. Configure Settings:

    You can also configure the following options:

    • Combine with Other Campaigns: Decide whether the discount can be combined with other discount campaigns.
    • Set Total Usage Limit: Define how many times the discount can be used in total.
    • Set Limit per User: Limit the number of times the discount can be used per customer.
  10. Set Valid Customers:

    • Define which customers or groups the campaign is valid for. You can choose from all customers, a specific customer group/segment, or individual customers.
    • If desired, you can enable the option Only for Registered Customers.
  11. Set Sales Channels and Currencies:

    Define which sales channels and currencies the discount campaign applies to.

  12. Set Discount Campaign Period:

    If the discount should only be valid for a limited time, enable the checkbox for the start and end dates, and select the desired dates.

  13. Save:

    Click Save to activate your discount campaign.

 

Creating automatic discounts is a simple process that helps you engage your customers with attractive offers. Make sure to define all relevant conditions and requirements to target and execute the campaign effectively.
