How to get an Instagram Access Token?

Create an App in Meta Developers

1. Go to developers.facebook.com and log in with your Facebook account.

2. Click My Apps in the top menu, then select Create App.

3. Enter a name for your app and click Next.

   

4. Select Other as the app purpose.

   

5. On the next step, choose Business as the app type.

   

6. Give your app a name, e.g., ikas Token, and proceed without a business account. Then click Create App.

   

Configure the App and Add Testers

1. In the Instagram card, click Set Up.

   

2. Navigate to App Roles > Roles and click Add People.

   

3. Select Instagram Tester, enter your Instagram username, and add the tester.

   

Accept the Invitation in Your Instagram Account

1. Log in to your Instagram account via a web browser.

2. Go to More > Settings > Website Permissions.

3. Click Tester Invitations and accept the invitation for your app by clicking Accept.

Generate the Access Token

1. Return to Facebook Developers, and in the left menu, go to Instagram > API Setup with Instagram Business Login.

2. Click Generate Access Tokens > Add Account.

3. Click Next and log in with your Instagram account.

4. Allow the required permissions – especially View your profile and Access media.

   Note: Access to messages is selected by default but can be disabled.

5. After successful login, your Instagram account will appear with a Generate Token button.

6. Click it and confirm the required permissions again.

7. Accept the terms of use in the next step and copy your Access Token.

Add the Token to Your ikas Dashboard

Now you can use the token in your ikas Dashboard:

Sales Channel > Themes > Customize Theme → Add Instagram Component

This will automatically display your Instagram posts in your shop.
