How to Connect Your Domain

Connect your domain to your ikas e-commerce website to strengthen your brand identity and boost your store’s credibility. Please note that ikas itself is not a domain provider. Domains must be purchased externally through other platforms and then linked to ikas. Alternatively, you can use the automatically provided ikas domain (e.g. testshop.myikas.com) for your store.

Note: The demo version can only be used with the automatically provided ikas domain ending in .myikas.com. It’s not possible to link a custom domain to a demo store.

Before You Begin, Keep in Mind:

  • Most domain dashboards have two separate sections: DNS Management and Advanced DNS Management. In DNS Management, you’ll find NS (Name Server) settings, while in Advanced DNS Management you’ll find fields like A, CNAME, TXT, MX, etc.
  • If you’re unsure where your domain is managed (which NS addresses it uses), you can find the NS addresses in the DNS settings of the panel where you purchased your domain. These addresses indicate which platform is managing your domain.
  • Any redirects you configure in the ikas panel must also be set in the panel where your domain is managed.

How to Connect a Domain to ikas

Your domain is connected by entering the records provided by ikas into the DNS settings of your domain provider. You’ll need access to both your ikas Dashboard and your domain provider’s dashboard to adjust these DNS settings. Follow these steps to connect your domain:

  1. Log in to the ikas Dashboard:

Sign in to your ikas Dashboard.

  2. Go to SEO and Domain Settings:

In the left-hand menu, click on your Sales Channel B2C > SEO and Domain.

  3. Add Your Domain:

    • In the Domain section, click Edit Domain.
    • Enter your domain without "www" in the designated field (e.g. ikas.com) and click Add. After this, the Domain Status section will appear with a table.
    • Once you’ve entered your domain, the Domain Status area will display the required entries along with the corresponding IP and DNS addresses in a table.
  4. Add the Records in Your Domain Provider’s DNS Settings:

Log in to your domain provider’s dashboard, open the DNS settings, and enter the displayed values according to the table. For this, you’ll need to create records in the DNS settings with the appropriate type (e.g., A or CNAME), value (e.g., "@" or "www"), and the DNS address copied from ikas (e.g., "172.66.1.12" or "eu1.myikas.com"). The process may vary depending on your provider.

Important: If your domain’s DNS settings already have multiple A records for the main domain (e.g. ikas.com), it may cause redirect errors. Be sure to delete the old A records after adding the one for ikas.

Tip: You can add the A and CNAME records yourself on the platform where you purchased your domain. If you’re unsure how to do this, your domain provider’s support team can assist you.

  5. Confirm the Entered Values:

Return to your ikas Dashboard and click Validate to verify the values. The current values should now match the required ones, and your domain will be verified.

Note: If you transfer your domain to ikas, it will become your hosting provider for the domain. You won’t need to pay extra hosting fees to your domain registrar.

Once the verification is complete, your website will be accessible via the connected domain.

How to Remove the Domain Connection

If you’d like to disconnect your domain, you can do so at any time by clicking the Remove button in the top right corner of the domain settings.
